Our Story
Using an innovative collaboration of life saving systems and wireless technology, our ambition is to create a hazard sensing device which seamlessly enhances WiFi connectivity and range. The device, called WIRD, is a smoke and carbon monoxide detection system combined with a wireless signal repeater which will provide excellent WiFi connectivity in every room that it is installed. It's purpose is to provide a noninvasive and intuitive solution to the commonly faced issue of poor WiFi strength in consumer homes. The integration of the WiFi repeater into a smoke detector device is optimal for a number of reasons. By having the device installed where smoke detectors are typically located, users will not have to worry about allocating space for the device. Its ceiling level placement is also optimal for Radio Frequency transmission and coverage. Because of its advantageous placement the repeating device will flood the room with impeccable WiFi service in a completely non-intrusive manner. If the convenience factor is not enough, It gets better. Having the device capable of WiFi connectivity means that alarm and data alerts are capable of being sent to users anywhere, anytime. The detection system will notify users when sensors have been triggered and can even notify emergency services. We plan to have several different sensors for detecting a variety of events and hazards. Therefore, WIRD will be capable of alerting the user to specific hazards as they take place. In addition, because the device will be installed in every room, alerts will also show in which room the detection took place; emergency responders and forensic analysts can be provided insight as to when and where an alarm trigger took place. We plan to accomplish this by developing an intuitive device platform for both setup and use. Through innovation and integration of existing technologies, WIRD will make every room smarter and safer.
